Pakistan’s young tech talent has made the country proud at the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) 2025, held in Bolivia from July 27 to August 3. The four-member Pakistani team secured four bronze medals, finishing 32nd among 86 nations, ahead of several technologically advanced countries including Germany, France, Austria, and New Zealand.
The medal winners — Muhammad Aneeq, Ghulam Junaid, Muhammad Saram, and Ahmed Imran Malik — represented the nation with exceptional skill and determination in one of the world’s most prestigious programming competitions.
According to the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE), this marks a significant improvement from last year when Pakistan won only two bronze medals and ranked 46th overall.
“This success reflects the dedication, intelligence, and potential of Pakistani youth in STEM fields,” stated FBISE.
The Olympiad journey began with the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training, which tasked FBISE with organizing the national selection. A total of 528 students registered from across the country, including those from Cambridge-affiliated schools. After two rigorous rounds of competitive testing held in 12 centers nationwide, the top four candidates were selected to represent Pakistan on the global stage.
FBISE emphasized that the transparent, merit-based selection process and the hard work of the students, their families, and mentors played a key role in this achievement.
As Pakistan continues to build its digital future, such victories highlight the growing strength of local talent in computer science and programming, offering hope and inspiration to the next generation of tech leaders.
