The Punjab government has announced major relief for over 300,000 teachers and government employees by directing authorities to complete long-pending promotions across the province.
According to an official notification issued by the Directorate of Public Instruction (Elementary) Punjab, all eligible employees in grades 1 to 16 are to be promoted within one month. Promotion orders have been dispatched to the Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of all districts, instructing them to ensure timely implementation.
The DPI Elementary Punjab has further directed all relevant departments and authorities to clear long-pending promotion cases on a priority basis, many of which have remained unresolved for years.
Officials have been warned that any unnecessary delay, negligence, or failure to process promotion files within the stipulated timeframe will result in disciplinary action.
Teachers and government employees across Punjab have welcomed the decision, describing it as long-overdue relief for thousands of staff members whose career progression had been stalled.
Employee representatives believe the move will not only address longstanding grievances but also help restore morale, motivation, and confidence within the public-sector workforce.
