The Information Technology University of Lahore has launched the first virtual reality classes in Pakistan, signaling a significant advancement in educational technology.
As Pakistan’s first university to provide classes in the metaverse, the Information Technology University intends to give online students with an immersive learning experience equivalent to traditional classroom settings.
Students and teachers can participate in lessons from anywhere in the globe using virtual reality headsets, which transcend geographical constraints.
Virtual classrooms include interactive components like projectors and instructor boards, which allow for real-time interactions and feedback.
In the metaverse, students not only participate in question-and-answer sessions, but their actions are also duplicated, adding to the classroom’s realism. Many students report that the virtual classroom helps them understand the subject better.
Ibrahim Ghaznavi, Head of the Department of Computer Sciences, emphasizes the initiative’s advantages, such as energy conservation and improved academic achievement among students.
The university’s engagement with the University of Denmark on a pilot project demonstrates its commitment to expanding educational technology after Covid-19. The IT industry believes that with legislative support for contemporary technology in education, Pakistan’s leadership in this field will grow globally.
