Pakistan is set to launch its first-ever Asan Khidmat Center in Islamabad by January 2026, marking a major step toward modernizing public service delivery and digital governance in the country.
According to official sources, more than 60% of development work on the project has already been completed. The initiative is being led by the Ministry of IT and Telecom (MoITT) as part of its broader agenda to digitize government processes and make citizen services more accessible, efficient, and transparent.
The Asan Khidmat Center is inspired by Azerbaijan’s successful, citizen-centric service delivery model. Earlier this year, Pakistan signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Azerbaijan’s State Agency for Public Services and Social Innovations to benefit from its expertise. During his recent visit to Baku, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif visited an Asaan Khidmat Center and directed authorities to replicate a similar model in Islamabad to raise service standards.
In Islamabad, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has been tasked with development, renovation, and furnishing work in Block-B of the designated building. Funds for the project have been released, and MoITT has instructed CDA to expedite renovation to meet the January 2026 launch deadline.
To support the center’s digital backbone, the National Information Technology Board (NITB) is digitizing the official records of Pak-PWD. This will enable modern record management, ensure long-term preservation, and support seamless service delivery across departments.
Once operational, the Asan Khidmat Center will function as a one-stop platform offering more than 100 essential government services covering key stages of life, from birth registration to death certificates. Services will be available from a wide range of departments and agencies, including:
- Islamabad Police
- National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA)
- Capital Development Authority (CDA)
- Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP)
- Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE)
- National Highways and Motorway Police (NH&MP)
- Excise and Taxation
- Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL)
- Immigration and Passport Department
- Federal Board of Revenue (FBR)
- Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO)
- Office of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Islamabad
MoITT has also directed that services of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, particularly document attestation, be included to further enhance convenience for citizens.
Officials say the launch of the Asan Khidmat Markaz will mark the beginning of a new era in public service delivery in Pakistan. Backed by Azerbaijan’s experience and driven by MoITT’s vision, the center will bring key government services under one roof, helping make governance more citizen-friendly, digital, and transparent for residents of the capital.
