In a concerted effort to mitigate environmental pollution in Punjab, the provincial government has partnered with a private company to unveil an electric rickshaw. The introduction of this eco-friendly transport solution stems from a significant meeting led by Secretary of Transport Ahmed Javaid Qazi at the transport secretariat.
The electric rickshaw, resulting from collaboration between the Transport Department and a local private firm, underwent successful trials and expert scrutiny. Ahmed Javaid Qazi expressed optimism that deploying these rickshaws would markedly decrease environmental pollution.
Officials assert that the electric rickshaws boast an impressive range of up to 150 kilometers on a single charge. Despite this, details regarding pricing and purchase locations remain undisclosed at present. Notably, recent amendments to the Motor Vehicles Rules 1969 by the caretaker government have granted legal recognition to the Qingqi rickshaw, facilitating its official registration as a three-wheeler.
