The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) reached an unprecedented high, surpassing the previous record of 61,691 and breaching the 62,000-point mark. The benchmark KSE-100 index demonstrated a remarkable surge, increasing by 1.4 percent or 851 points within the initial moments of trade, hitting a new high at 62,542.
The momentum continued, with the index rising to 62,609, up by 1.5 percent or 918 points at 11:07 AM, and further spiking to 62,688 at 11:20 AM, reflecting a 1.62 percent increase or 997 points.
In the first two hours of trading, the market witnessed robust activity, recording a total trading volume of 275 million shares valued at Rs. 13.1 billion. Notable participation was observed in Worldcall Telecom Limited (PSX: WTL) with over 18.2 million shares traded, followed by Fauji Cement Company Limited (PSX: FCCL) and Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (PSX: OGDC) with 17.3 million and 14.8 million shares traded, respectively.
