The International Cricket Council (ICC) released their most recent rankings update on Wednesday, and it shows that Shaheen Shah Afridi—who is widely known as Pakistan’s best fast bowler—has become the nation’s highest-rated T20I bowler. His position as a global role model for budding cricket players is further cemented by this accomplishment.
Shaheen is now ranked 17th among T20I bowlers, moving up two spots. The 24-year-old has emerged as the highest wicket-taker in the first three matches of Pakistan’s ongoing Twenty20 International series against New Zealand, and the ICC praised his outstanding performance in those matches.
Shaheen took the one wicket in the rain-affected first game of the series and was instrumental in Pakistan’s seven-wicket win against the Kiwis in the second game, finishing with statistics of 3/13. He has risen up the rankings because to this fantastic performance, surpassing fellow fast bowler and colleague Haris Rauf, who is currently ranked 22nd.
Adil Rashid of England currently holds the top spot in the T20I bowlers’ rankings, while Ish Sodhi of New Zealand has moved up five spaces to take 18th place following his performance against Pakistan.
