In a joint humanitarian exercise, 44 medical students from Gaza have been temporarily relocated to Rawalpindi Medical University (RMU) in Pakistan, where they can continue their studies after having been displaced by recent escalations in Gaza. The students were initially studying at Al-Azhar University. The extreme Israeli strikes on Gaza’s educational institutions and the civilian infrastructure left them with little choice. Facilitated by the Pakistani government and RMU, this move has underlined Pakistan’s commitment to supporting displaced Palestinian students in advancing their medical education despite the adversities back home.
