The interim government in Punjab has opted to reinstate complimentary travel for students on Metro Buses and Orange Line Trains amid challenging weather conditions. Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi has instructed officials to revive the free travel provision on these major public transport systems.
This initiative is specifically aimed at students up to the twelfth grade and will be effective until the commencement of the summer break. Notably, last year, the provincial government had introduced free public transport for students in response to escalating oil prices.
Although the service was temporarily halted before winter vacations, it has been reintroduced and will persist until the onset of summer vacations. To avail themselves of this free bus facility, students must adhere to the requirement of wearing their uniform and carrying valid school or college identification cards.
