The Punjab Forest Department has kicked off an extensive tree planting campaign under the “Green Pakistan Initiative” to commemorate the 77th Independence Day. This initiative is part of the broader vision of creating a “Green and Prosperous Pakistan.”
In a first-of-its-kind effort, paragliders were used to disperse 20,000 seed balls in the hilly areas of Chakwal district. Meanwhile, in the Murree Division, helicopters, in collaboration with SIFC and the Pakistan Army, scattered 20 kg of pine seeds.
The campaign’s ambitious goal is to plant over 10 million trees across Punjab. On a single day, various government departments managed to plant more than 3 million trees. The Forest Department led this effort by planting 1.5 million trees, while the Education, Health, and District Administration collectively planted 1.4 million. The Parks and Horticulture Authority oversaw the planting of 100,000 trees.
To ensure transparency and effectiveness, each planting activity will be monitored through geotagging and uploaded to the “Plant for Pakistan” app. This campaign is part of a larger monsoon tree planting effort supported by SIFC, aiming to secure a sustainable and green future for Pakistan.
