The Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training marked World Education Day at the National Library, emphasizing the theme “learning for lasting peace.” President Dr. Arif Alvi, the chief guest, advocated for enrolling 26 million out-of-school children through measures like an education emergency, double shifts in institutes, and mosque utilization for teaching.
He proposed engaging graduates and intermediate students to teach these children with a stipend incentive. Various organizations showcased initiatives at stalls, with President Alvi commending BECS for enrolling over 12,000 out-of-school children in Islamabad.
Federal Education Secretary Waseem Ajmal Chaudhry, DG of Basic Education and Community Schools (BECS) Hameed Khan Niazi, and other dignitaries, including representatives from USAID, UNICEF, UNECSO, and JAICA, attended the event. President Alvi urged more initiatives for educational outreach and appreciated BECS’s efforts.
