Pakistan and India are set to engage in a sporting clash, this time on the tennis court, as arch-rivals face off in the Davis Cup for their Group I Tie. The Indian Tennis team is anticipated to land in Islamabad on January 29, with matches scheduled for February 4 and February 5 at the Pakistan Sports Complex Courts.
In preparation for this event, a meeting was convened by Shoaib Khoso, the Director General of the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB), involving local police, traffic police, security agencies, and the Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF). The PTF Secretary, Col (Retd.) Gul Rehman, briefed security agencies on the Indian Tennis team’s practice sessions and travel schedule.
Emphasizing security measures, the PSB DG stated, “We discussed different issues in terms of maintaining top-notch security for the upcoming Indian team’s visit to Pakistan. A security plan was shared with all concerned officials, and while fool-proof security measures are routine for all foreign teams, special measures will be in order for the Indian team.”
Additionally, special attention will be given to ensuring the tennis court’s grass is in optimal condition for the matches.
