Dr. Abid Qaiyum Suleri, the esteemed Executive Director of the Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI), has received a significant nomination as a member of the COP 29 International Advisory Committee (IAC). He stands out as the sole expert from South Asia on this committee, tasked with supporting the COP29 President in steering the negotiation agenda for the upcoming meeting of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29).
The decision to appoint Dr. Suleri was made during the inaugural meeting of the COP29 IAC held on July 11th. This committee, composed of distinguished personalities, aims to provide valuable perspectives across various aspects of climate action, ensuring a comprehensive approach to addressing global environmental challenges.
Scheduled to convene in Baku, Azerbaijan, from November 11 to 22, COP29 under the presidency of Azerbaijan is committed to fostering engagement among diverse stakeholders. These include state parties, international organizations, financial institutions, businesses, academia, and civil society, all working towards delivering an inclusive and impactful outcome from the conference.
