The vibrant Chawmos Festival has begun in the scenic Kalash Valley, Chitral, marking the Kalash community’s New Year celebration. Spanning 15 days, the festival is held across Bamburet, Rumbur, and Birey, attracting tourists and culture enthusiasts from around the world.
The festivities include iconic rituals like Chhoi Nari, where youth light fires on sacred hillsides, and Shara Beraik, symbolizing unity and prosperity through flour-made cultural symbols. The Mundahik ceremony honors deceased loved ones with a solemn gathering around a cedarwood fire. The festival will conclude on December 22, offering a mesmerizing glimpse into Pakistan’s rich cultural diversity.
