Tamasha, Pakistan’s leading streaming platform, has secured international streaming rights for Pakistan’s upcoming test matches against Bangladesh in August and September, and the test match against England in October. This milestone is part of a new partnership with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
With 18 million monthly active viewers recorded in June 2024, this marks Tamasha’s first foray into international streaming, extending its reach beyond Pakistan to sub-Saharan Africa and India. The platform’s expansion allows cricket fans in these regions to access live content and engage with the sport they love, according to a press release.
Launched in October 2021, Tamasha has quickly become the largest homegrown video streaming platform in Pakistan. It is accessible to customers across all mobile networks in the country, allowing users to stream content on the go, in social settings, or at home. Tamasha also holds exclusive streaming rights for the 2024-2025 ICC Men’s and Women’s tournaments in Pakistan.
“Digital streaming platforms are transforming how fans consume sports globally. We are proud to deliver world-class cricket events not only to Pakistani viewers but also to fans in sub-Saharan Africa and India, ensuring content is as accessible as possible,” said Aamer Ejaz, President of Digital Platforms at Jazz. He added that under their Digital Operator strategy, they provide a wide range of services in entertainment, finance, education, healthcare, and more, aiming to make these experiences broadly available.
Tamasha’s impact was evident during the ICC Men’s T20 Cricket World Cup 2024, held in July, where the platform recorded over 18 million monthly active users and captured 70% of all digital views of the tournament, with daily active users peaking at 9 million.
