Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has issued directives to power distribution companies, including K-Electric, HESCO, and SEPCO, ensuring uninterrupted power supply from the 1st to the 12th of Muharram. This decision came during a joint meeting with administration officials and religious scholars to finalize arrangements for Muharram processions and gatherings.
During the meeting, religious scholars highlighted concerns over previous instances of load-shedding during important religious events and requested Shah to ensure uninterrupted power supply, particularly during the holy month of Muharram. Shah responded by assuring that mosques and gatherings would receive continuous electricity, emphasizing the importance of maintaining peace and harmony during this sensitive period.
Additionally, Shah instructed the Sindh Inspector General of Police to coordinate security measures with Shia scholars to ensure the safety of Muharram processions and gatherings. He also directed relevant authorities to address infrastructure concerns, including drainage systems and road repairs, to facilitate the smooth conduct of events.
Furthermore, Shah tasked provincial officials with enhancing cleanliness and waste management along the routes of Muharram processions. He instructed ministers to engage with local mosques and Imam Bargahs to resolve any outstanding issues and to collaborate closely with event organizers to ensure seamless arrangements.
Following the directives, a follow-up meeting will be convened with power distribution companies, administration officials, and religious scholars to review the implementation of these measures. Shah reiterated his commitment to providing assistance as needed to ensure a peaceful and respectful observance of Muharram across the province.
