Pakistan has added another milestone to its sporting achievements as Karachi-based martial artist Wajahat Yar Khan set a new Guinness World Record by performing 126 push-ups at a 180-degree angle within one minute.
The record breaks the previous benchmark held by Britain’s Alex Golding and has been officially verified and recognised by Guinness World Records.
Speaking about the achievement, Wajahat Yar Khan said the record was the outcome of ten months of rigorous and disciplined training. He credited his success to consistency, perseverance, and the unwavering support of his family, particularly his parents.
The martial artist revealed that the journey was not without setbacks, as he sustained multiple injuries during training and while attempting the record. Despite these challenges, he remained determined and focused on achieving his goal.
Wajahat Yar Khan further shared that he is already preparing for another Guinness World Record attempt, with the aim of further elevating Pakistan’s standing in international martial arts.
Highlighting broader challenges faced by athletes, he pointed to the lack of government support for martial artists, noting that greater institutional encouragement and backing could help Pakistani athletes achieve even greater success at the global level.
Despite these obstacles, he reaffirmed his commitment to representing Pakistan internationally and continuing his pursuit of excellence in martial arts.
Earlier, Pakistan celebrated another Guinness World Record when Saba Rashid became the country’s first martial arts athlete to achieve the feat in the nunchaku category. Her record was confirmed after she successfully performed a figure-of-eight movement with nunchaku 138 times in one minute, surpassing the previous record of 120.
