The Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) has confirmed that eight national athletes, led by Olympic gold medalist Arshad Nadeem, have been awarded IOC Olympic Solidarity Scholarships to support their preparation for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games (LA28).
Each athlete will receive USD 13,500 per year from September 2025 to August 2028, providing vital backing for training camps and international competition.
Arshad Nadeem is the only awardee from athletics and a recurring beneficiary of the programme. The National Rifle Association of Pakistan has the highest representation, with five shooters selected: Kishmala Talat (Paris 2024 Olympian and the first Pakistani woman to directly qualify for the Olympics), Rabia Kabir, Muhammad Farrukh Nadeem, Sulaiman Khan, and Imam Haroon.
The remaining two scholarship holders are table tennis player Haiqa Hassan and taekwondo athlete Fateemaah-tuz-Zahraa Khawar.
In a statement, the POA praised the athletes for representing Pakistan with “dedication, resilience, and excellence” on the road to LA28. The IOC Olympic Solidarity Programme supports National Olympic Committees, particularly those with limited resources, by funding athlete development and preparation for major events.
