According to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), there has been a notable 7.55% increase in the production of petroleum products from July to October 2023-24, with the indices rising from 85.81 to 92.29, marking a positive trend. However, in October alone, there was an 8.19% decline in petroleum products production.
Within the petroleum sector, high-speed diesel saw a substantial growth of 14.80%, reaching 1.752 billion liters in July-October 2023-24 compared to 1.526 billion liters in the same period of the previous fiscal year. Furnace oil also experienced a robust 16.34% growth, registering a production of 880.770 million liters, up from 757.062 million liters in the corresponding period last year. Conversely, jet fuel oil witnessed a negative growth of 13.02%, with production dropping to 257.307 million liters from 295.822 million liters.
In the realm of construction materials, cement production showed a positive trajectory with a growth of 7.10% in July-October 2023-24, reaching 14.071 million tons compared to 13.138 million tons in the same period of 2022-23, as per PBS data.
