In the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings 2023, 68 Pakistani universities secured positions, compared to 58 in 2022. Initiated by Universitas Indonesia in 2010, this ranking assesses green campuses and environmental sustainability using 39 indicators and 6 criteria.
The Muhammad Nawaz Shareef University of Agriculture emerged as the top-ranked national institute, with the Khwaja Fareed University of Engineering and Information Technology and the University of Lahore securing the 2nd and 3rd positions, respectively.
This reflects a notable commitment to environmental initiatives across Pakistani universities, showcasing an increasing focus on sustainability in higher education institutions.
