Collaborative Effort for Skill Development
The UK government and prominent Middle Eastern institutions are joining forces to set up 280 skills development centers across Pakistan. This initiative is aimed at generating millions of job opportunities for Pakistanis, especially in the global market. A delegation comprising members from UK universities and GEMS Middle East is currently visiting Pakistan to drive forward this ambitious project in collaboration with the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC).
Focus on Technical and Vocational Training
The partnership focuses on enhancing Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Pakistan. These centers will offer training in various fields, and the certification process will be jointly managed by institutions from Pakistan, the UK, and Gulf countries. This joint certification aims to elevate the skillset of Pakistani workers, making them more competitive for job placements abroad, particularly in the Middle East.
Job Creation in the Gulf Region
In its initial phase, the project will create 80,000 job opportunities, particularly in sectors like hospitality, security, and construction. The majority of these roles will be in the Gulf region, including Dubai. The initiative is designed to meet the growing demand for skilled labor in these sectors, offering Pakistanis the chance to tap into international job markets.
Expanding Opportunities for Pakistanis
As the program scales, it is expected to create millions of jobs globally, benefitting Pakistan’s economy and its workforce. The collaborative effort is poised to uplift Pakistan’s technical workforce, providing them with the necessary skills and certifications to excel in international industries, making Pakistan a key provider of skilled labor for the Gulf and beyond
