The first-ever Twin City Run made history as hundreds of runners, families, and young athletes from across Pakistan came together for a powerful message: promoting public transport and fighting climate change. The event featured a 21.1 km half marathon and a 5 km community run, starting at Saddar Metro Station in Rawalpindi and finishing at D Chowk, Islamabad.
Participants ran through an unforgettable route that blended heritage and modernity. From passing the Army Museum and Raja Bazaar to entering Islamabad’s wide, green avenues, the run symbolized unity between the twin cities. Runners especially appreciated the rare opportunity to run across sections of the elevated Metro track, a highlight that reinforced the event’s advocacy for cleaner, more efficient public transport.

The run was celebrated for its inclusivity, with remarkable participation from women, children, and families. Runners praised the race’s atmosphere, live dhol beats, and a unique commemorative medal designed exclusively for the event.
Organizers expressed gratitude to both city administrations and to the Metro Transit Authority for facilitating the first-ever cross-city marathon of its kind. The event marked a promising step toward raising awareness about sustainable mobility and environmental protection in the region.
