Ali Jamali, CEO of Indus Motor Company (IMC), shared insights into the company’s foray into local HEV production, backed by a substantial $100 million investment.
This strategic move aims not only to slash import costs but also anticipates an annual saving of $37 million as production scales up to 30,000 HEV units.
The spotlight is on the Corolla Cross HEV, a hybrid crossover that is expected to revolutionize the Pakistani automotive scene. Positioned as a fuel-efficient solution in challenging economic times, the Corolla Cross boasts a 1798cc hybrid engine, delivering 168hp at 3600 RPM and 305Nm torque at 3600 RPM. Originally introduced as a Completely Built Unit (CBU), the Corolla Cross has already made waves on Pakistani roads. The locally assembled version, eagerly awaited by enthusiasts, is poised to strengthen Toyota’s foothold in the burgeoning market for hybrid vehicles.
