With the vision of empowering education in Pakistan, Tabarak Hassan has started his journey to run 1600 km across Pakistan. He aims to raise $1 million for TCF (The Citizens Foundation), a Pakistani non-profit organization which is running over 2000 schools. He started his run on November 3, from Hassan Abdal Cadet College and aims to reach his undergraduate college, IBA Karachi. His goal is to complete this run in 35 days, running almost 40-50 km/day. These funds would help provide free education to 7000 children.
Tabarak’s motivation for this mission roots from his love for education. Tabarak attained his early education from Hassan Abdal, graduated from IBA Karachi and went to Northeastern University, Boston for higher studies. He was astonished at the comparatively low ratio of Pakistani students. Upon some research, Tabarak came to know that a majority of Pakistani children are unable to attain higher education. This truth saddened him and he aimed to help the students of Pakistan. Tabarak began providing educational assistance to youngsters on social media and guided them about the educational opportunities in international universities.
So, how did he get this idea? Interestingly, he was impressed by the fundraiser marathons in the USA. After running for a fundraiser marathon, he decided to run for Pakistan. He collaborated with TCF and pledged to run from Hassan Abdal to Karachi and raise 1 million dollars. To appreciate him in this cause, his family and friends gathered at Hassan Abdal Cadet College and prayed for him before beginning his journey.
Tabarak’s cause is not only limited to raising funds for education, it would help raise awareness regarding the importance of education for every child. In a country like Pakistan, where a majority of children are deprived of their right to education, Tabarak’s mission would help people realize the importance of education to shape Pakistan’s future. People like Tabarak stand as a motivation for our younger generation, as they help to portray a bright image of Pakistan all over the world.
