In a historic milestone, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Tahira Yasub has been appointed as the Assistant Inspector General (AIG) in the Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) Police Establishment, making her the first woman to hold this esteemed position in the region.
Renowned as one of the most experienced and capable officers in the Gilgit-Baltistan Police Service, Yasub’s administrative expertise spans various departments and branches within the region’s police force.
Currently serving as the Commandant of the Police Training College in Gilgit, SSP Yasub’s notable career includes key roles such as AIG Logistics. Her trailblazing journey began in 2011 when she became the first woman police officer appointed as the Traffic Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP). Demonstrating her commitment to international service, Yasub trained local and UN police for 14 months in Sudan in 2012.
Promoted to the rank of SSP in 2019, Yasub’s educational background includes a degree in international relations from Karakoram International University. Her global impact extends to representing Pakistan in UN peacekeeping missions, showcasing her skills on an international platform. The GB Police celebrated this groundbreaking achievement on social media, acknowledging Yasub’s exemplary service and leadership.
