In a groundbreaking development, the South Punjab region has launched its first Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based radar system designed to streamline traffic management. The pilot project was inaugurated on Wednesday by Additional Chief Secretary South Punjab, Fuad Hashim Rabbani, marking a significant technological advancement in traffic control for the region.
AI-Driven Traffic Monitoring on Old Bahawalpur Road
This advanced AI traffic control system has been installed on Old Bahawalpur Road. The system will play a crucial role in optimizing traffic flow, reducing congestion, and enhancing road safety. During the inauguration, prominent officials, including Director General of Multan Development Authority (MDA), Rana Saleem Ahmed Khan, Director Engineering Rana Waseem, and Director Transport Rao Zaka, were present to witness the launch.
Technological Milestone for South Punjab
Fuad Hashim Rabbani emphasized that this initiative is the first of its kind in South Punjab and is set to revolutionize the region’s traffic control infrastructure. The AI system is designed to monitor traffic in real time, detect violations, and provide valuable data to improve future planning. By reducing human intervention, it promises to minimize human error and ensure more efficient traffic management.
A Step Toward Smarter Cities
The AI radar project reflects South Punjab’s commitment to embracing smart technology for urban development. Director General MDA Rana Saleem Ahmed Khan noted that such innovations are crucial for creating smart cities, where AI-driven solutions can significantly improve the quality of life for citizens by enhancing safety and convenience on the roads.
Future Expansion of AI in Traffic Control
Following the success of the pilot project on Old Bahawalpur Road, plans are in place to expand this technology across other parts of the region. The authorities aim to establish a more efficient traffic control system that can handle the increasing urban traffic loads, reduce accidents, and ensure smoother roadways throughout South Punjab.
