Sehar Ijaz, a pioneering woman from Lahore, Pakistan, has achieved a groundbreaking milestone by becoming the first Pakistani woman to not only be nominated but also secure a win at the prestigious Gold Coast Student Excellence Award. This historic recognition highlights her exceptional contributions on the international stage.
Sehar’s journey to this remarkable award began with her notable success at the National Amateur Short Film Festival in Pakistan (NASFF) the previous year, where she stood out as one of the Top 15 filmmakers.
Graduating from a women’s university with a major in media studies, Sehar excelled academically and dedicated three years to voluntary work with various societies. What sets her apart is her dedication to promoting creative arts and addressing educational disparities, particularly in Baluchistan.
During her final year as the President of the Kinnaird Literacy Society, Sehar led a impactful campaign that collected and donated over 3,000 books to girls’ schools, colleges, and libraries in a region where educational access, especially for women, is limited. This commitment to making a positive impact in society distinguishes Sehar as a filmmaker with a meaningful purpose.
Sehar Ijaz’s historic achievement not only breaks barriers for Pakistani women in international recognition but also underscores her dedication to social impact and creative endeavors, solidifying her as a notable figure in her field.
