In a major relief for the agricultural sector, the Punjab government has approved a wheat subsidy of Rs5,000 per acre, aiming to support over 600,000 farmers across the province. This decision is expected to ease the burden of rising production costs and encourage stable wheat cultivation.
Kissan Card to Streamline Support
The financial aid will be distributed through the Kissan Card system, designed to ensure transparency and easy access. Farmers who do not yet possess the card will still be eligible, making the program inclusive and widely accessible.
More Relief on the Way
Beyond this subsidy, the government has also introduced additional measures: interest-free loans up to Rs150,000 for small farmers, significant incentives for the solarization of tube wells, and distribution of thousands of tractors—some provided entirely free of cost.
A Strong Message of Support
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif reaffirmed the government’s commitment to empowering farmers and ensuring long-term agricultural stability. She hinted at even more subsidies in the upcoming crop season, signaling continued support for the backbone of the province’s economy.
