In a significant move to support the welfare of bereaved families, the Punjab Cabinet has approved a series of allowances for the families of employees and officers who passed away while in service. Following the cabinet’s decision, the Punjab Finance Department issued an official notification outlining the approved allowances, which include House Rent Allowance, a 20% Special Allowance, Medical Allowance, Utility Allowance, and Ad Hoc Relief Allowance.
These measures aim to provide financial relief and stability to the families affected by the loss of their loved ones during their service. The decision was made during a meeting led by Punjab Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar, who instructed Finance Secretary Mujahid Sherdil to draft the necessary proposals for these allowances.
This initiative continues the efforts established by the Establishment Division in February 2015, which sanctioned various grants for officers who died in service. The allowances approved by the Punjab Cabinet further extend support to the families of the province’s public servants.
