In a significant step towards promoting education, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has unveiled the “Honhaar Scholarship Programme,” aimed at providing financial aid to 30,000 deserving students across the province. The initiative reflects her commitment to ensuring that talented students, regardless of their financial background, can pursue higher education.
Information desks have been established in universities across Punjab to facilitate the application process. The scholarships, available in 68 different disciplines, will be distributed annually, supporting both academic and career growth for students.
Scholarships for Public Sector University Students
The programme will focus on students enrolled in one of Punjab’s 50 public sector universities. Covering a wide range of undergraduate degrees, the scholarships will provide financial support for a full four- to five-year duration of study. This includes students pursuing degrees in MBBS, BDS, and other important fields.
Eligibility Criteria
Eligibility for the Honhaar Scholarship Programme will be based on academic merit, with a 30% weightage on matriculation and 70% on intermediate marks. Applicants must be under 22 years of age, and the programme targets students from families with an annual income below Rs300,000, ensuring support reaches those in greatest need.
Full Tuition Coverage
The scholarship programme is designed to cover full tuition fees, reducing the financial burden on students and their families. Maryam Nawaz’s vision is to empower students to achieve their educational goals without worrying about financial constraints, ensuring access to quality education for all.
This initiative not only encourages educational advancement but also aims to create a generation of empowered youth, ready to contribute positively to society and Pakistan’s growth.
