Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) has officially commenced oil and gas production from its recently discovered exploratory well, Dhok Sultan-3, located in the Dhok Sultan Block, Attock District, Punjab.
The company began early production on November 1, 2025, under the Appraisal/Extended Well Testing phase. The oil is processed through PPL’s operated Dhok Sultan Oil Handling Facility, while gas is transported to the Meyal Gas Processing Facility.
According to PPL, oil from the well is being supplied to Attock Refinery Limited, and gas is sold to Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited. The current arrangement allows the company to ramp up production to 1,400 barrels of oil per day, 2.5 million standard cubic feet of gas per day (MMscfd), and 15 tonnes of LPG per day.
The Dhok Sultan Block is a joint venture operated by PPL with a 75% working interest, while Government Holdings (Private) Limited (GHPL) holds the remaining 25% interest.
A company spokesperson said the development reflects PPL’s commitment to enhancing domestic hydrocarbon production in a cost-effective and sustainable manner, helping to reduce Pakistan’s energy supply gap and save valuable foreign exchange through local production.
“The start of production from Dhok Sultan-3 is another step forward in ensuring long-term energy security for Pakistan,” the spokesperson added.
