Quetta — Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) has announced that the Government of Balochistan has conditionally approved the grant of Exploration License (EL-331), allowing the company to explore precious and base metals group and associated minerals in District Chagai, Balochistan.
The approval underscores PPL’s long-term commitment to expanding its presence in the mineral exploration sector and reflects the company’s strategic focus on diversification beyond hydrocarbons to ensure business sustainability and national resource development.
Located in one of Pakistan’s most mineral-rich regions, District Chagai is known for its significant deposits of copper, gold, and other valuable minerals. The approval paves the way for responsible exploration and resource assessment in the area, contributing to both regional development and the country’s broader economic goals.
According to the company, the approval process will be finalized upon completion of legal, regulatory, and procedural requirements outlined by the provincial authorities. Once approved, PPL will initiate detailed exploration and geological studies in accordance with environmental and safety standards.
The move aligns with the Government of Pakistan’s efforts to unlock the potential of the mineral sector and attract investments aimed at boosting domestic production, exports, and job creation in Balochistan.
