Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif announced on Sunday that the government is committed to providing state-of-the-art, free healthcare facilities at the newly planned Jinnah Medical Complex. Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, the Prime Minister highlighted that this medical center will be one of the best in the region, offering 100% free treatment to deserving patients from across Pakistan, including Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Jammu & Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.
Once completed, the Jinnah Medical Complex will feature world-class healthcare services, including specialized treatment for heart, kidney, lung diseases, cancer, and more. The facility will also have a modern emergency section with air ambulance services for patients from remote areas. Additionally, the complex will house nursing schools and laboratories providing free lab tests for eligible patients.
The Prime Minister acknowledged that this project reflects the vision of PML-N President Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, who aimed to provide free medical care to the poor and paid services to others. He thanked Chairman HBL Sultan Ali Allana and Prince Rahim Agha Khan for their pro bono technical consultancy and praised the Agha Khan Foundation for its longstanding contributions to the country.
PM Sharif emphasized the need for the project to be completed within a year and instructed authorities to work around the clock to meet this deadline, assuring that government funding would be secure. He also expressed gratitude to Islamabad Chief Commissioner Ali Randhawa for the land provision and to the finance minister, finance secretary, and planning minister for their support. The Prime Minister directed that a one-window facility be set up to address compensation issues for those affected by the land acquisition.
