Pakistani athlete Arshad Nadeem, who made history by securing the country’s first individual gold medal at the Paris Olympics, will be honored with the prestigious Hilal-e-Imtiaz, as directed by President Asif Zardari. The civil award will be presented in a special ceremony, reflecting Nadeem’s remarkable achievement and the pride he has brought to the nation.
In addition to the Hilal-e-Imtiaz, various rewards have been announced for Nadeem. Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has hailed him as a “hero” and announced a reward of Rs100 million, along with naming a sports city in Mian Channu after him. A foreign ice cream chain has also pledged a cash reward of Rs2 million, and a Karachi-based business tycoon will gift him a luxurious apartment.
Furthermore, a resolution passed by the National Assembly recommends that Nadeem be honored with the highest civil award, and Senate Deputy Chairman Syedaal Khan Nasar plans to host an honorary dinner upon his return to Pakistan. Sindh government spokesperson and Sukkur Mayor Barrister Arsalan Islam Sheikh has announced that a gold crown will be presented to Nadeem, and the under-construction sports stadium in Sukkur will be named “Arshad Nadeem Stadium” in his honor. A solar energy firm has also promised a solar energy system as a tribute to Nadeem’s grand achievement.
