Pakistan is set to export 25,000 tons of high-quality sugar to Bangladesh, marking a historic milestone as the first large-scale sugar export to the country in decades. The shipment is expected to arrive at Chittagong Port next month, with sugar prices hitting $530 per ton on the international market.
In addition to Bangladesh, Pakistan has secured sugar export agreements with Central Asian countries, Thailand, and several Gulf and African nations. These exports are expected to bring in between $400-500 million, positioning sugar as a major contributor to Pakistan’s foreign exchange earnings.
