The Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre (SKMCH&RC) has earned certification from the prestigious American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO)’s Quality Oncology Practice Initiative (QOPI) Certification Program, marking a significant historical milestone.
Pakistan is the first country in South Asia and the sixth country in the world to receive ASCO certification outside of the United States. The QOPI® Certification Program is a three-year certification program for outpatient hematology-oncology practices that fulfill internationally established quality cancer care criteria. SKMCH&RC’s certification confirms the hospital’s dedication to providing high-quality treatment to all patients, regardless of their capacity to pay. SKMCH&RC freely participated in a site assessment and met the QOPI® Certification Program’s standards and goals.
