Over 130,000 foreign jobs are currently available for Pakistanis, according to the Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment (BEOE), an agency under the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development.
Out of a total of 275,669 jobs listed with the bureau, around 131,817 positions are still open. So far, 143,854 jobs have been secured. Between January and June 2025 alone, approximately 337,000 Pakistanis have left the country in pursuit of overseas employment.
Since its formation in 1971, the BEOE has facilitated employment for over 10 million Pakistani workers abroad. In 2015, a record number—946,571 Pakistanis—went overseas for work.
Overseas employment continues to serve as a backbone for Pakistan’s economy, significantly contributing to remittances, debt servicing, poverty reduction, and economic development. The BEOE regulates and facilitates emigration through licensed Overseas Employment Promoters (OEPs), while also monitoring individuals who secure jobs independently via their contacts abroad.
The Bureau is also responsible for maintaining data on migrant workers, issuing licenses to OEPs, conducting pre-departure briefings, and overseeing insurance coverage through the State Life Emigrants Insurance Fund.
