Pakistan and Bangladesh have taken a significant step toward enhancing bilateral relations by signing a visa-free travel agreement for diplomatic and official passport holders, alongside a series of new accords in multiple sectors.
The agreements were formalized during the visit of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar to Bangladesh, where he was joined by Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan. According to Pakistan’s Foreign Office, the pacts will help “institutionalize and further strengthen bilateral collaboration” across fields including trade, culture, education, media, diplomatic training, and academic exchanges.
This development follows a similar agreement signed between Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in June, which came into effect on July 27, 2025.
During his stay, Ishaq Dar attended a reception hosted by Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Imran Haider, and held meetings with a wide range of Bangladeshi stakeholders, including government advisers, political leaders, academics, journalists, artists, sports figures, and retired officials.
Dar emphasized that Pakistan and Bangladesh’s partnership is built upon centuries-old cultural ties, Islamic heritage, and shared traditions, and reaffirmed Islamabad’s commitment to a forward-looking, cooperative relationship with Dhaka.
Analysts view the agreements as a diplomatic boost, signaling renewed efforts from both nations to deepen engagement and open channels for greater regional collaboration.
