The Pakistan Athletics Federation is set to kick off a training camp for the national junior team on Wednesday at the Jinnah Stadium, Pakistan Sports Complex. This camp is organized in preparation for the South Asian Junior Athletics Championship, which is scheduled to take place in Chennai, India, from September 11 to 13.
According to the President of the Pakistan Athletics Federation, Brigadier (R) Wajahat Hussain, 13 players will participate in the training camp under the guidance of qualified coaches. The national junior team will represent Pakistan at the championship, competing against teams from seven countries, including hosts India, Maldives, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka.
The championship features 15 categories for both men and women. The men’s events include the 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, and 3000m races, along with the 110m hurdle race, long jump, triple jump, high jump, shot put, discus throw, javelin throw, and the 4x100m and 4x400m relays. Similarly, the women’s events feature the 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, and 3000m races, as well as the 100m hurdle race, long jump, triple jump, high jump, shot put, discus throw, javelin throw, and the 4x100m and 4x400m relays.
