Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar engaged in a bilateral meeting with President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan of the United Arab Emirates in Abu Dhabi today. The Chief of Army Staff, General Syed Asim Munir, was also present.
The two leaders oversaw the signing of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) between Pakistan and the UAE, focusing on investment cooperation in various sectors such as Energy, Port Operations Projects, Waste Water Treatment, Food Security, Logistics, Minerals, and Banking & Financial Services.
These MoUs are expected to pave the way for a multi-billion dollar investment from the United Arab Emirates into Pakistan, supporting initiatives outlined under the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC). The prime minister described this event as a historic milestone that will inaugurate a new era of economic partnership between Pakistan and the UAE.
Emphasizing the deep and enduring ties between the two nations, the leaders expressed their commitment to strengthening bilateral strategic cooperation and dialogue. The prime minister conveyed sincere appreciation for the UAE’s steadfast support to Pakistan in the economic and financial realms. The UAE, home to 1.8 million Pakistanis, plays a crucial role in the progress, prosperity, and economic development of both countries.
The meeting also addressed regional and global developments, with a particular focus on the worsening human rights and humanitarian situation in occupied Palestine. The prime minister affirmed Pakistan’s support for a just and lasting solution to the Palestinian issue based on international law and in accordance with relevant United Nations and OIC resolutions.
Furthermore, the Prime Minister reiterated Pakistan’s full support for the UAE’s Presidency for COP 28, highlighting its significance as an opportunity for meaningful progress in addressing global climate issues, including the establishment of the Loss and Damage Fund.
