In a major development for Pakistan’s football scene, the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) has officially announced open trials to select the national futsal team, which will participate in the AFC Futsal Asian Cup Indonesia 2026 Qualifiers—a first in the country’s history.
The trials will be held on Saturday, August 10, at the 5th Generation Sports Complex, DHA Phase 8, Lahore, from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Aspiring futsal players from across Pakistan are encouraged to participate and showcase their skills for a chance to represent the country at the international level.
This announcement comes as Pakistan gears up for its first-ever campaign in the AFC Futsal Asian Cup, a prestigious tournament set to take place from September 20 to 24. Pakistan has been placed in a challenging group alongside Iraq, Chinese Taipei, and host nation Saudi Arabia.
Futsal—a fast-paced, indoor variant of football—is rapidly gaining popularity in Pakistan, and the PFF’s renewed focus on this format signals a strategic push to develop the game at all levels. The open trials not only provide a national platform for emerging talent but also reflect a broader commitment to elevate Pakistan’s standing in Asian football.
“These trials could be a game-changer,” said a PFF official. “They’re an open call to hidden talent from across Pakistan—Lahore is just the starting point.”
The qualifiers will serve as a proving ground for players who have long awaited recognition in futsal. With the sport’s increasing traction in urban centers and among youth, this is a golden opportunity to step onto the international stage.
As Pakistan prepares to make history, the road to Indonesia 2026 begins in Lahore—and for many young athletes, it could be the beginning of a dream come true.
