Left-arm spinner Noman Ali has been nominated for the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award for October 2024 following some outstanding displays in the ICC World Test Championship. The 38-year-old was instrumental as Pakistan recently whitewashed England on home soil with 20 wickets from two Tests in Multan and Rawalpindi. His efforts, besides match-winning spells of 8/46 and 6/42, not only helped Pakistan win an away series comeback but even ended a long drought of Test victories at home
Apart from bowling, Noman scored useful runs with the bat and scored 45 runs in the final Test. That’s how Pakistan built a huge lead, and then went on to win the rest of the match by nine wickets. It was all-rounders like him who made this happen.
Noman’s rivals in the award are South Africa pacer Kagiso Rabada, who had done stellar performances in Bangladesh, and New Zealand’s left-arm spinner Mitchell Santner, who produced an excellent outing against India.
