Doha, Qatar – Pakistani Muhammad Asif has won his third IBSF World Snooker Championship title with much skill and determination, proving once again why he is the most dominant player in the sport. The 42-year-old, who had entered the tournament as a wildcard, showed extraordinary talent, resilience, and precision throughout the competition and took the title in Doha.
Asif faced stiff challenges, especially in the final against Iran’s Ali Gharagozloo, who demonstrated both defensive and offensive prowess. The best-of-nine final was a great battle as Asif led initially but soon saw his opponent equalize the score. However, in the third frame, he demonstrated his experience and acumen by winning 62-8. Then came a fantastic fourth frame, where he made a perfect clearance of 106 points, thereby registering his sixth century break in the tournament. That proved to be a turning point for Asif in the match.
Asif consolidated his momentum as he made the fifth frame his to dominate for a 4-1 82-12 win. Gharagozloo replied with victory in the sixth and seventh frames to keep the tie alive, but Asif was decisive again with a 93 break in the eighth frame to make it 5-3. This is the fifth time that Asif has managed to become a world title champion in snooker; his first two world individual titles he acquired in IBSF World Snooker Championship back in 2012 and 2019 and his two other world team titles, respectively.
