The Lahore Education Authority is taking a progressive step by providing a monthly stipend of Rs10,000 to transgender individuals attending government schools. The Government Girls High School in Garden Town is the first to benefit from this initiative, offering Rs5,000 as a monthly allowance and an additional Rs5,000 for transportation.
To qualify, students must maintain an 80 percent attendance. District Education Officer Nayyar Iqbal emphasized their commitment to expanding such support based on demand. The Garden Town school has been offering free education, textbooks, and meals to transgender students for a year, demonstrating a comprehensive and inclusive approach to education.
