In a significant development for Pakistan’s Olympic contingent, premier swimmers Mohammad Ahmed Durrani and Jehanara Nabi have secured wild card entries for the Paris Olympics, as confirmed by a senior official of the Pakistan Swimming Federation on Monday. Both athletes will compete in the 200-meter freestyle event, set to commence alongside the Olympics’ opening ceremony on July 26 in Paris.
Durrani and Jehanara bring solid international experience, particularly excelling in the 200m freestyle category, making them promising contenders on the global stage. Hailing from Dubai, both swimmers are expected to showcase their best performances at this prestigious event. Their inclusion completes Pakistan’s team for the Paris Olympics, alongside female sprinter Faiqa Riaz, who also earned a wild card entry.
Apart from these swimmers, Pakistan’s contingent includes direct qualifiers like javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem, world silver medalist, and shooters Kishmala Talat, Ghulam Mustafa Bashir, and Joseph Gulfam. With a total of six athletes representing the nation, Pakistan anticipates a competitive showing across various disciplines in the upcoming Olympics.
