Islamabad’s historic Saidpur Village is set for a major transformation into an international-standard tourist and commercial hub, according to Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi. The initiative aims to preserve the cultural heritage of the site while introducing modern facilities for visitors.
On the minister’s directives, a large-scale anti-encroachment operation was launched against illegal constructions and encroachments in Saidpur Model Village. Buildings unlawfully occupied for years without rent payments were vacated, and the operation continues across 360 kanals of land developed after 2005.
During his visit to the village, Mohsin Naqvi reviewed the beautification and upgradation works, directing the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and District Municipal Administration (DMA) to take strict, indiscriminate action against illegal structures. He further instructed that vacated properties should be auctioned transparently.
The minister also revealed plans to introduce renowned restaurants from Karachi and Lahore into Saidpur to enhance its attraction as a tourist destination. “The revival of Saidpur will not only add to the beauty of Islamabad but also provide citizens with a new recreational hub,” he said.
According to CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa, satellite imagery is being utilized to identify encroachments and restore the green core area of Saidpur Village. Senior CDA members, the Additional Deputy Commissioner General, SSP Operations, and other officials were also present during the visit.
The project reflects the government’s broader commitment to modernizing Islamabad’s cultural and recreational spaces while ensuring transparency and environmental preservation.
