Caretaker Religious Affairs Minister, Aneeq Ahmed, officially disclosed the Hajj 2024 cost, approved by the caretaker cabinet. The government quota for Hajj 2024 will be Rs. 1.075 million, marking a notable decrease from the Rs. 11.75 million for Hajj 2023.
Ahmed highlighted that this marks the first time in the country’s history that the next year’s Hajj is more affordable than the previous one.
Key features of the Hajj Policy 2024 include the return of unused slots in both government and private schemes to the Saudi Arabian government.
The policy also introduces a comprehensive monitoring system for the financial management of Hajj organizers, adhering to Saudi regulations. Notably, individuals under 10 can now fulfill the pilgrimage obligation, and private Hajj schemes have increased flexibility for individuals over 80.
Additionally, organizers must ensure local assistance services for pilgrims in Saudi Arabia, with violations subject to penalties and potential blacklisting. The Federal Cabinet has approved a reduction in the Hajj Hardship Category quota, with 50% reserved for Pakistani students in Saudi Arabian universities who will serve as welfare staff.
