The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) has sanctioned a three-month Winter Relief Package to aid domestic and industrial electricity users, running from December 2024 to February 2025. The initiative introduces a special tariff of Rs. 26.07 per kWh for consumers exceeding 200 units monthly, including industrial, commercial, and general service users.
This package aims to promote increased electricity use while alleviating reliance on gas supplies. Consumption benchmarks will be set based on either current usage or a three-year average, ensuring flexibility. The ECC anticipates this plan will ease energy costs for households and industries while improving gas supply management during winter.
