Caretaker Finance Minister Dr Shamshad Akhtar received the prestigious ‘Most Influential Woman in Islamic Business and Finance 2023’ Award at the 5th Annual WOMANi event in Dubai, hosted by Cambridge IFA.
The accolade recognizes Dr Akhtar’s exceptional contributions and steadfast dedication to advancing Islamic finance and economics on a global scale.
Notably, she previously served as the finance minister in the caretaker government before the 2018 general election and made history as the first woman to lead Pakistan’s central bank during her three-year term as the governor of the State Bank of Pakistan starting in January 2006.
