ISLAMABAD, Aug 08 (APP): In an extraordinary blend of cultural pride and athletic excellence, Pakistani athlete Danish Elahi has made history by setting a Guinness World Record for completing the prestigious Boston Marathon in traditional shalwar kameez.
Clocking an impressive 3 hours and 26 minutes, Elahi achieved the fastest time ever recorded in national attire, earning global recognition for his unique feat.
His achievement was celebrated in Islamabad by Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani, Secretary of the Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC) Division, who presented Elahi with a commemorative souvenir. The Secretary commended Elahi’s dedication to representing Pakistan’s culture on an international stage and for projecting a positive image of the country through sports.
Beyond his record-breaking run, Elahi has pledged to support sports development in Pakistan. He announced his backing for the newly constructed Padel Tennis Courts at Islamabad College for Girls (ICG), aimed at encouraging youth participation in emerging sports.
This landmark achievement not only underscores Elahi’s personal determination but also sends a powerful message to aspiring athletes nationwide — proving that cultural heritage and world-class athletic performance can go hand in hand.
